BASIC PISTOL MARKSMANSHIP CLASS (TYRO)

GRRPC will be holding Basic Pistol Marksmanship Classes for 6 weeks starting in September. Class is held every Saturday afternoon from 3:30-6 pm. This course is designed for new shooters. Terry Dunn and Brian Keelean instruct attendees on how to become proficient in the sport of Bullseye shooting as well as Basic Pistol Marksmanship.

Along with lecture time and q & a's, shooters get hands-on training. You join in drills, practice techniques and shoot competitive matches. You get a good taste for how an actual match is run when the guys take you through the paces. And, there's lots of personal instruction for each student as the coaches observe the line.

During the 6 week course each shooter is shown how to draw up an acheivement plan, then determine and set a goal. Students are then given the tools to obtain their goals. Goals are measured throughout the training period by one-on-one assessments done by the coaches. This time is also meant for questions, suggestions and direction.

In addition to the shooting fundamentals and individual training, the duo covers equipment, ammo, gun safety, NRA sanctioned matches and other related topics.

The class uses .22 caliber pistols only; eye and ear protection will be required. The cost of the program is $111 which covers 1 year membership to GRRPC, targets and range fees.

WEST MICHIGAN PISTOL LEAGUE

This .22 only league runs from January through April. Matches are held every Friday evening starting at 8 pm at GRRPC. The course of fire is a standard 900 match: 3-10 minute slow fires, 3-20 second timed fires and 3-10 second rapid fires, equaling 90 shots, each with a value of 10 points.

At the end of the season awards are given out to both individual and team winners during the awards banquet usually held in May.

If you are interested in forming a team or joining an existing team (4-member minimum, 6-member maximum) sign up at the club or contact the team Captains: Team #1, Jolan Jackson, Team #2, Bob DeBakey, Team #3 Dan McAdams, Team #4 Terry Dunn. Teams need to decided on and information sent into the West Michigan Pistol League coordinator the first week in December 2007.


CONVENTIONAL INDOOR 2700 PISTOL MATCHES

NRA approved 2700 Pistol Matches will be held once a month on Sundays starting in December and running through March 2009. For full match details click here.


2008 NRA NATIONAL POSTAL MATCH

Our annual Indoor Pistol Postal Match will be held in October or November of 2008—date will be announced after the 2008 schedule has been approved by the board in September. This is a Nation-wide match. Each state holds their own match, the targets are collected and sent to the NRA for official scoring. The scores are then tallied and the findings are released in the Spring. Click here for more information.
